Driving.ca first drive of A3 Sportback e-Tron prototype

Driving.ca's David Booth took the A3 e-tron for a spin around the hills of Malibu, California.

Here's a few quotes from the article:

Acceleration is vivid [...] with Audi claiming 100 kilometres takes but 7.6 seconds. A Toyota Prius, the A3 is not.

The result is that, as long as 130 kilometres an hour is not exceeded, this A3 will run on electrons for either 50 kilometres (Audi’s claim) or about 35 km (our observation). On our short traipse through the backroads of Malibu, the gas engine never kicked in when we were in EV mode.
