Thank you!!Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your new car!
Thank you! I did buy one and installed a 220 line on a 50 amp breaker in the garage. The one in the garage has a 25 foot cable so it can sit in the driveway with garage door closed.. takes like, 1.5 hours and its charged! Its overkill, but I wanted to future proof the house. I keep the stocker charger in the car in case i'm at like, an Airbnb and find a plug haha. The built in charging scheduler is pretty awful, i gave up on that and use the app the charger came with. Way better - totally agreed.Great looking car! I have a 2018 and it's been pretty much problem free. I eventually purchased my own smart-charger, which was a great idea - it has superior functionality over the built-in charging scheduler.
It does the side mirror dip with this thing? Oh that sounds great - these are the things I did with my previous car (2011 Subaru Impreza) and i loved messing around with the car like that. I'll look into that - precisely what I was hoping to learn!Welcome, my 2017 is equipped like yours, and I enjoy the options.
As fo up grade or modifications I recommend OBD ELEVEN Dongal - Adding Scndy DRL that turn on rear lights with front DRL, Right MIRROR DIP on reverse, etc. Thing like this are cheep add ones built into you cars CPU. Just need to turn on.
Happy EV Motoring.
Are all the doors pre-wired for this or just on some trim levels?
Photo is a bit dark, but that's a puddle light on the bottom of the driver door.
$10 for two of them and <10minutes to install.
(Or $300 from my local Audi dealer 🙄)
ya all 4 of mine are too - Here is a you tube that shows how it's done - scroll to 1:10 - a small screwdriver and about 10 mins you can do all 4. I bought a set on Amazon, though Amazon no longer sells it. Here's an eBay for one.. (all links embedded). On my top trim ("Technik" in Canada) 2016, all four doors are wired.
I mean, it's not too tough to tell - hold your hand under the bottom sill of the door and see if you get light shining on it.
The little light housing just pops out with a plastic pry tool - unplug what's there, plug in the new thing.
I bought my E-Tron used so I'm not sure if the previous owner enabled the reverse mirror dip on my car or if it was enabled from factory on my car. To check if see if enabled:It does the side mirror dip with this thing? Whaaaaa - is this how you set the mirror thing or just how to test if it is enabled?I bought my E-Tron used so I'm not sure if the previous owner enabled the reverse mirror dip on my car or if it was enabled from factory on my car. To check if see if enabled:
1. Set your mirror knob to the right mirror.
2. Put the car in reverse. Did the mirror move at all?
3. If no, keep the car in reverse and adjust your right mirror enough where you can see the difference.
4. Put the car back into park or drive or set your mirror knob back to 0. Did the mirror auto adjust back to it's home position?
I gave it a shot a few different ways yesterday when heading to the store and otherwise.. I couldn't get it to go. Is yours Prestige? I'm Premium Plus.. so far no go. I know the OBDeleven (from what I read) will enable it probably.. i may buy it on Amazon, set everything the way I want to, and return it. HA.The way the feature works (if enabled) is the mirror will dip if you put the car in reverse AND your side mirror adjust knob is set to the right side mirror. Since the right side mirror also has to be "taught" the dipped position, which is my steps 2 and 3.
My steps above is a quick way to set a dipped position and see if the mirror moves back between the home and dipped positions when the car is in reverse and you are toggling the mirror knob back and forth between the 0 and right mirror positions.
Reading around on the different audi forums, I couldn't quite understand if:
- the feature requires both VCDS/OBDeleven software programming AND specific hardware;
- if its enabled from the factory for the Prestige package
Might be a Prestige thing then - I was hunting for one and finally gave up. I'll try the mirrors a few more times in different ways. Maybe I can make it happenI have a 2018 Prestige.
Ok sounds good looks like I’ll just get an OBD11My 2017 is a Premium Plus w/ Teck & Sport packages.
The steps on YouTube to set Mirror Dip did not work.
And using OBD Eleven did. Works in Reverse if you first set Mirror to R.
Not you need to follow the instructions in OBDELEVEN, as I recall that is in Adaptation.
Ah! That's great to hear that the hardware is all in the car and all it takes is a few software tweaks. My 2017 is a Premium Plus w/ Teck & Sport packages.
