I am a new owner of a used 2016 Audi E-tron. I would like to use the Level 2 charge capability, but do not want to have the expense of wiring a new outlet from the breaker box that is on the opposite side of the house from the garage and dryer. I know nothing about electricity, but surely don't want to destroy my house, car or dryer.

Anyone using either of these items OR have any comment about either of the options below:
- A y-splitter (FX436Y Adapter) from getwiredusa.com with 14-30P to 14-30R and 6-50R is available for $70
- An automatic switch custom made with same configuration (Dryer Buddy Auto Plus) is available from bsaelectronics.com for ~ $250.

I can confirm that I successfully use my dryer outlet to charge my 2018 at 240v. I made my own adapter from a Dryer Cord Kit https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.dryer-cord-kit.1000143336.html and a NEMA 6-50R surface receptacle https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.single-receptacle-surface-mount-black.1000105678.html that I bought at homedepot.ca. I just capped the neutral wire (white) inside the receptacle, since a dryer would use that wire only for 110v features like LED lights. I didn’t attempt a splitter since I didn’t want the dryer and charger to accidentally be run at the same time. That would trip the breaker and my breaker box is a bit of a pain to get to.
