Hi all. I've tried searching the forum so standard apologies if this has already been a thread and I didn't manage to locate it.

Have any of you come up with an ingenious way of hiding the bulky charging unit when charging in public? Where I live we have lots of 16amp plug sockets publicly which I normally use to charge. However, leaving the unit floating around outside doesn't sit comfortable with me. (lots of feral youths around!)

I had a thought that maybe I could pop it in the engine bay (with the engine cooled, obviously!) and have the cable coming out into the charging unit and then close the bonnet (hood). Has anyone got any tips?

Thanks!

Since the connection to the car isn't locked while charging (that's how it is here in Canada), I've been reluctant in using the Audi supplied charger while on the road. I believe the connection is locked to the car outside N.A.

It's something I've been thinking about for some time. I thought of a 'bag' or something where I would store the unit in and then have 1 of the front wheels hold the opening of the bag down (not over the unit of course).
But I've yet to come up with a solution.

In the UK the public charging points lock the plug socket, the car locks the charging cable but the charging unit looks too good to passers by who might just give it a kick!

I’ve hidden it under the car so far. I popped open the bonnet this morning and there isn’t any space to just sit it neatly.

Let’s see if anyone else has any solutions!

Hi Attmamanager

I was intrigued by your question about whether or not we could hide the charger under the hood. As you can see from the attached photos we certainly can. There is just enough room behind the gas engine for the bulky charging unit. The charging cable and the power cord can be carefully routed out through the rear portion of the hood. The cables are barely pinched if at all, with careful placement of the cables. Try it out and see if this works for you.
