Good question - I just found out this evening that the eTron I ordered is still stuck in Houston after landing there a month ago. Sales managers had no idea what was going on. The only thing I've heard of that might be an issue is that Android Auto is missing from cars - but that doesn't explain why 'all' are on hold.

HA! When the 2016 e-trons arrive at the port, they were held for 4 months until they get all the EPA scandal sorted out!

I was looking for available inventory at dealers in my area. In California there are probably 100's of cars shown as in transit. So nobody must be buying etrons at this time.

I have been trying to purchase a Prestige model for a month now, got the run around from 2 local dealers finally found one in inventory at a dealer 2000 miles away. I put a deposit on it, did all the paperwork and still waiting on Volkswagen credit two weeks later. I normally am able to walk into a dealer, find a car, finance and drive away in one day. Kind of disappointed but still looking forward to my purchase. My local dealer has a 2017 available that I drove, just not a Prestige model. They were working very hard to get me to take the one they had.

It's due to hundreds of e-trons mistakenly being built without the smartphone interface. My dealer says the holdup is that they are fixing this mistake. My car has been in port one month. What I'm not sure about is whether it's being fixed at port or if the cars are going back/have gone back to Germany.

Just got this message from my dealer rep today " good news, they have parts on order and are prioritizing orders first, so we should be set for december on your car" repairs being done at port.

That's the best news ive heard in months! Hopefully mine will make it in time for me to get the PHEV credit for 2016.

Ditto, plus the state tax credit and current Audi deals...

I had a similar problem with three local dealers. They all had 2016s they couldn't get rid of and slashed the price significantly. The nearest Prestige they found was 3500 miles away on the west coast. I ended up placing a factory order, ETA is some time in March 2017.

Congrats, Where are you located ? There is only a few 2017 Prestige models avail that I could find.
I am in Boston and it seemed like the dealers around here did not have much interest in helping me out, that said neither did any dealer I spoke with. Like I mentioned before, took two weeks just to do paperwork and still waiting for approval to have car shipped.

Bad news: my car arrived without smartphone interface. I refused delivery and they are now looking for another car nearby that has it. It appears the port hold was not to repair the missing smartphone interface.

Any updates on cars being held in port? Mine seems to be stuck in port in Rhode Island and the dealer doesn't seem to know why.

My car was built oct 15. It was supposed to be on the boat leaving around November 25. After sitting around for a month +, it should have definitely been on that boat. So something delayed these etrons. All the dealers are showing "in transit" probably because they got held up in Germany.

Anyway, so a boat left Emden on dec 15 and the dealer confirmed that my car was in that boat (ship #358). So suffice to say, a bunch of etrons are on their way!

There also could be some sort of business strategy at work. Maybe keep the cars until dealers unload the 2016's? B

Just finished picking up my '17 Premium Plus yesterday. It came without the smartphone integration, so I asked the sales manager if they'd gotten an answer on my earlier enquiry of what held it up. His response was that they were told that there was some radiator issue that required replacement of the radiator at the port.

I ordered a Premium base model. Is it supposed to have any phone integration? The specs on these cars is near impossible to find!

Base cars would have bluetooth support and aux input - but that's it from what I can tell. The technology package allegedly was supposed to provide Android Auto and Apple Carplay integration, but apparently only if the Audi workers were paying attention that day...

Will this be something the service department can fix locally?

Nope. That's why they're discounting it $150.
